New Activewear Company Nubia Natalie Launches Inaugural Collection Celebrating Mexico’s Huichol Artisans

Los Angeles, CA - After two years in the making, new eco-friendly activewear company Nubia Natalie, released it’s very first collection today featuring traditional designs inspired by the intricate artforms of Mexico’s Huichol artisans.

Following a fulfilling career in fashion for over 15 years, Nubia Natalie Founder & CEO Natalie Arribeno, discovered a deep desire to champion the artwork of indigenous artisans on a global level. Arribeno’s family and heritage hails from Nayarit, Mexico, a region close to the Sierra Madre mountains, where the Huichol community reside today and continue their cultural practices. In 2017, Arribeno traveled to Mexico’s Sierra Madre mountain region to meet with Susana Valadez, the Founder & Executive Director of the Huichol Center for Cultural Survival and the Traditional Arts.

“Taking a stand for artisans and respecting their way of life was the right move for me and my company,” said Arribeno. “More importantly, I wanted to accurately represent the ancient and spiritual meaning behind this rich Huichol artistry, and make sure I was doing so the right way.”

In a time when the entire fashion industry is refining their views on cultural competence and appreciation, Nubia Natalie is committed to creating thoughtful partnerships that create impact in the communities they work with.

“We couldn't be more thrilled for this partnership with Natalie and her socially conscious activewear company. Our combined efforts will undoubtedly bring resources back to The Huichol Center. We know that Nubia Natalie’s aim is to empower our community to continue to preserve our way of life with dignity and pride for future generations,” said Valadez.

Nubia Natalie apparel is proudly manufactured in Los Angeles, and made from Repreve fabric sourced by recycled water bottles.  “It was absolutely important for me to have a production process free of chemicals that can harm our environment,” said Arribeno. “That is why we only use waterless dye-sublimation printing techniques, and package our products using recycled materials.”

Available online starting today at www.nubianatalie.co, Nubia Natalie’s inaugural collection features three silhouettes: leggings with two small pockets, a wide racerback sports bra with cross-straps and drawstring yoga shorts.
